Turning Thirty the Musical
Back in 1999, I was diagnosed with testicular cancer. Over the course of a year, I endured five surgeries and four rounds of chemotherapy. The experience changed my life, for the better. At the time, I was keeping a journal, and one day the whole idea for the musical came pouring out, from the top down. I wrote down the title, then titles of songs. I ended up writing 17 songs about it, and recorded them while I was going through it. It's a work I am very proud of. You can read all about the musical and my story at the Turning Thirty website.
Film Scores
A few years ago, I started a gym membership at the Y (which is a wonderful place - one of the few organizations that truly practice what they preach). Anyway, one day I struck up a conversation with a fellow member named Parthiban Shanmugam. Turns out he's an independent filmmaker. Fast forward to today, and we've worked on two films together: "Black Men Can Swim" and "We Are Not Far Away."
